Cameras capable of capturing "side-on" goal-line vision "will be installed into goal posts" at the Melbourne Cricket Ground and Etihad Stadium "for the second half of this season," according to Matt Murnane of THE AGE.
The Australian Football League's ongoing analysis of the score review system "has shown that its current camera angles" -- under renewed criticism after a major blunder during Sunday's Melbourne-Gold Coast game -- "are providing officials with enough information to make accurate decisions on 'two thirds' of the score reviews during the first five rounds." Football Operations Manager Mark Evans revealed on Monday that the league "had decided to trial goal post cameras at the MCG and Etihad Stadium to see whether that 'side-on' goal line vision would assist officials with those reviews where the current technology is not sufficient."
