More Than 8 Million Viewers Watch German Cup Semifinal On ARD, Sky

The DFB-Pokal (German Cup) semifinal between Borussia Dortmund and VfL Wolfsburg "attracted more than 8 million viewers on Tuesday night," according to David Grzeschik of QUOTENMETER. German public broadcaster ARD recorded 8.31 million viewers for its broadcast of the game starting at 8:30pm. The number translated into a market share of 26.5%. In the target demographic 14-49, Dortmund's 2-0 victory obtained a 20.8% share as 2.41 million viewers tuned in. ARD's 15-minute pregame coverage was watched by 6.12 million viewers and had a 22.8% share. German pay-TV channel Sky, which also aired the game, attracted 430,000 viewers to its broadcast. The number equaled a market share of 1.4%. In the target demographic, Sky's broadcast was watched by 280,000 viewers and had a 2.4% share. The combined audiences of both networks totaled 8.74 million viewers (QUOTENMETER, 4/16).
