Event Notes: Australian Turf Club CEO Says The Championships Could Move To Early April

The "first day of The Championships hit its targets" but horse racing authorities are "already making sure the only way is up with a plan to bring it forward a week from next year as part of a revamp of the Sydney Carnival." Australian Turf Club CEO Darren Pearce said, "We have been approached by Racing NSW to the move The Championships to the first two weeks of April and we have reserved from rights about it until we can make a full and frank review of the whole carnival" (SYDNEY MORNING HERALD, 4/14). ... The Environmental Protection Bureau of Nanning, China released a plan to "guarantee a safe environment, as the 45th World Gymnastics Championships will be held in Nanning" in October. It was "written in the plan that the air quality should be at least 'good,' with the air quality index (AQI) no more than 100" (XINHUA, 4/12).
