Executive Transactions

Basketball ACT has named former Tuggeranong-Southern Cross juniors President DAVID LEANEY as its president for at least the next two years. Leaney replaces MARK WHITE, who stepped down after eight years in August. Basketball ACT is "still searching" for a new CEO after TONY JACKSON, due to relinquish his post in April, "quit just two years into his tenure" (CANBERRA TIMES, 2/28). ... Australian Football League side St. Kilda "is expected to appoint" AFL Players Association President MATT FINNIS as its new CEO. In a "surprise development, the Saints are understood to have settled on Finnis as their preferred CEO." St. Kilda President PETER SUMMERS "would not comment on Finnis or any other candidate on Thursday evening," but did confirm that the club "was in negotiations with one individual for the CEO position" and was ''very close'' to finalizing the appointment (THE AGE, 2/27).
