Sports marketing company SPORTFIVE has appointed LEONARDO GIAMMARIOLI as its new director of int'l product management. Giammarioli "has most recently worked as a sports journalist and football commentator for Sky Italy and as a marketing manager" at Serie A club AS Roma. He will support int'l colleagues in the Lagardère Unlimited group to develop new markets, especially in European, African and South American regions. He "will be stationed at the Hamburg headquarters" (ISPORTCONNECT, 2/19). ... Nike named ANTHONY WATSON as CIO. Watson joins Nike from Barclays Bank, where he has been their London-based managing director and CIO for Europe and the Middle East, as well as for global operations since '09. Watson will report to COO ERIC SPRUNK and will start in April (Nike). ... Telemundo Media promoted ELI VELAZQUEZ to senior VP of sports. Velazquez previously served as sports VP since '08. He is based in Miami and will continue to report to Exec VP JORGE HIDALGO. Velazquez will oversee sports programming and operations and be responsible for leading the strategic initiatives related to domestic growth, integration of the department's content beyond broadcast and developing new ways to evolve Telemundo Sports' brand across multiple platforms (Telemundo). ... La Liga Espanyol has made ÀLVAR MALLAFRÉ MORENO its new security director. Moreno replaces PEDRO TOMÁS BOTICARIO, who was removed from the position by Espanyol President JOAN COLLET last Thursday (MUNDO DEPORTIVO, 2/19). ... Liga MX side Monterrey announced on Tuesday that CARLOS BARRA will be the club's interim coach for the rest of the season, replacing JOSÉ GUADALUPE CRUZ. PEPE TREVIÑO will be Barra's top assistant (NOTIMEX, 2/18).
