Newcastle United Dir of Football JOE KINNEAR has resigned. Kinnear stepped down just days after the club sold midfielder YOHAN CABAYE and did not replace him by the Friday deadline. In a statement, the club said, "Newcastle United can confirm that Joe Kinnear has this evening resigned from his position as Director of Football with immediate effect. The club will be making no further comment" (London DAILY MAIL, 2/3). ... MICHAEL CRISMALE has been confirmed as the Chairman of Sydney's thoroughbred racing club by the Board of the Australian Turf Club. Current ATC board member LAURIE MACRI was named Vice Chair of the Board. Fellow board member MARK MCINNES and Dir ALAN OSBURG also stepped down (Australian Turf Club).
