New Formula E car Spark-Renault SRT_01E made its first public demonstration on Monday at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. The zero emission single-seat car, capable of speeds up to 150 mph, was driven by F1 driver Lucas di Grassi and gave onlookers their first chance to see and hear the cars that will compete in the new FIA Formula E Championship in September. The event was held in conjunction with the Int'l CES, a global consumer electronics and technology tradeshow, together with Formula E founding and technology partner Qualcomm (Formula E
). SUPERSPORT reported di Grassi "showed off the capabilities" of the Spark-Renault Formula E car, "pulling off tight turns, breathtaking accelerations and sudden stops." The car is designed by Spark Racing Technologies. Teams "will have two drivers and four series-provided, single-seat cars in the first season."
