Football Matches Account For 5 Most Talked About Events On Twitter In Spain

The "five most talked about events this year by Spanish Twitter users" were all football games, according to the EFE. The top five events included three Champions League matches -- ManU-Real Madrid, Bayern Munich-Barcelona and Real Madrid-Borussia Dortmund. The Spain-Italy match in the semifinals of the Confederations Cup and the tournament's championship match between Spain and Brazil were also among the top five. Twitter also "revealed the most popular trends from the world of sports in Spain." The most popular "sports topics in Spain included the NBA, Lionel Messi, José Mourinho, the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, Rafael Nadal and FIFA President Sepp Blatter, among others" (EFE, 12/12).
