Report Shows Schalke Offers Bundesliga's Most Expensive Season Ticket

German sports business magazine SPONSORs has analyzed the ticket prices and hospitality occupancy rate of all 36 Bundesliga and 2nd Bundesliga clubs and found out that a single-game ticket costs between €8-€94 ($11-$128) during the '13-14 season. It is SPONSORs' second consecutive report on the issue and it showed huge differences in price structure for season tickets between the 36 clubs. Borussia Dortmund sold the most season tickets in the Bundesliga with 54,728 for the '13-14 season. In the 2nd Bundesliga, FC Cologne leads the pack with 25,000. In the top flight, season tickets have an average price tag between €169-€687 ($230-$933). FC Schalke offers its fans the most expensive season ticket at a cost of €884 ($1,200). The cheapest season tickets in both leagues are offered by Bundesliga club Hamburg SV for €98 ($133) and 2nd Bundesliga side FC Kaiserslautern for €80 ($109). The Hamburg-based club also offers the most expensive single-game ticket (€94) as well as the cheapest single-game ticket (€8). In terms of VIP tickets, the numbers are less encouraging than a year ago. The 18 Bundesliga clubs reported an average occupancy rate of 94.6% for its suites, which is almost identical to last year's survey. However, only eight instead of 12 clubs last season report a sellout for their suites. In the business-seats category, only five clubs have a 100% occupancy rate. During the '12-13 season, seven clubs sold out their business seats. Overall, the business seats occupancy rate is 92.4% (SPONSORs).
