Brazilian F1 Grand Prix With Low Ratings On RTL, Sky; Winter Sports Score On ARD

German free-to-air TV channel RTL "recorded low ratings for its broadcast of the Brazilian F1 Grand Prix on Sunday," according to Alexander Krei of DWDL. A total of 5.4 million viewers tuned in to watch the race at the Interlago circuit in São Paulo. That is "about half the viewers that last year's season finale attracted." In the target demographic 14-49, Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel's record-breaking ninth consecutive win obtained a 21% market share. In addition, pay-TV channel Sky attracted 460,000 viewers and had a 2.1% share (DWDL, 11/25).

BUNDESLIGA: DWDL's Krei also reported Sky "received high ratings for its broadcasts of Sunday's two Bundesliga games." A total of 440,000 viewers tuned in to watch the game between Hamburg and Hannover. Hamburg's 3-1 victory obtained a 3.1% market share in the target demographic. Two hours after the first game kicked off, an average of 58,000 viewers tuned in to watch Mainz's 3-2 victory against Bremen. In the target demographic, the game had a 2.7% share (DWDL, 11/25).

WINTER SPORTS: DWDL's Krei reported German public broadcaster ARD attracted an average of 3.48 million viewers to its broadcast of the biathlon World Cup on Sunday afternoon. The mixed relay race obtained a 19% market share. In the target demographic, the biathlon event recorded a 10.3% share. Following the biathlon event, ARD aired the ski jumping World Cup, which was watched by 2.1 million viewers. At 12:48pm, the channel showed the luge World Cup event and attracted 1.07 million viewers. The number translated into a 7.4% market share (DWDL, 11/25).
