Spanish state of Catalonia Business & Employment Councilor Felip Puig on Thursday suggested that Barcelona bid to host the 2026 Winter Olympics, according to EP. Puig said that the bid would be good for the city because, from his point of view, "it would earn protection for Catalan's mountain territories and strengthen recent revenue increases at ski resorts." Puig said, "We have to guarantee that this offer would have the response it deserves and allow progress, social cohesion and territorial balance to be this country's priorities" (EP, 11/14).
