Liga MX Atlas Sets Weekend Deadline For Potential Buyers, To Review Candidates Tuesday

Liga MX side Atlas has "established this weekend as its deadline for offers for the club's upcoming sale," according to Rigoberto Juárez of LA AFICION. On Tuesday, the "club's leaders will meet to begin the process of determining the transaction." Atlas has hired consulting firm Moore Stephens to "spend the last three months gathering information and negotiating with those interested in Atlas." Moore Stephens "ruled out any specific financial offers being made to this point." Alberto Tapia, one of the 124 Atlas members who will make the decision, said "none of the names of the possible buyers have been released by the media due to a confidentiality agreement." Tapia emphasized that the decision will "be supported in a way that if the majority of the assembly decides on the sale, it will be finalized, and there will not be any public dissent." In terms of the "primary requirements for someone to buy Atlas," Tapia said, "The most important factors are not financial. We want Atlas' headquarters in Guadalajara to be respected, we want the team's colors to be respected, and we are seeking respect for the brand. In some way, we want the logo to be respected, and for the buyer to better commercialize the brand" (LA AFICION, 11/14).
