Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund "has agreed to an early contract extension" with head coach JÜRGEN KLOPP until '18. Club Sports Dir MICHAEL ZORC said, "He's the perfect coach for the BVB" (DPA, 10/30). ... Austrian national football team head coach MARCEL KOLLER "has extended his contract with the Austrian Football Federation (ÖFB) for another two years." Koller "decided to stay with the Austrian team despite being offered the Swiss head coaching position" to succeed OTTMAR HITZFELD, who will resign after the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. However, Koller "rejected his home country's offer and signed a new contract with the ÖFB until '15 with an option for an extension" (KURIER, 10/30). ... GEOFF MILLER is to stand down as England chairman of selectors and national selector and will be replaced by JAMES WHITAKER. The England and Wales Cricket Board "announced the change after Miller informed the governing body of his intention to step down during the summer's Ashes series." The ECB "has also confirmed the appointment" of former England wicketkeeper PAUL DOWNTON as its new managing director (HERALD SCOTLAND, 10/16). ... Scottish Hockey announced the appointment of DAVID SWEETMAN as the national field hockey governing body's new CEO. Sweetman, 32, will join the organization in January from Diageo, who employed him as a Graduate Trainee in '05. He has since progressed within the company's business functions to his current role of Business Leader (Scottish Hockey).
