Fox Int'l Acquires Major League Baseball Broadcast Rights In 30 European Countries

Fox Int'l Channels has "set a pact" with MLB that will "dramatically extend the league’s TV reach across Europe," according to VARIETY. The agreement calls for FIC outlets in Europe "to carry all MLB games live, from the regular season through the All-Star Game and post-season." The deal began Wednesday night with Game 1 of the 2013 World Series in Boston (VARIETY, 10/24). DIGITAL TV EUROPE reported the MLB deal gives FIC rights "to games across 30 European countries." The deal comes after FIC picked up European rights to the NFL. It has also "been picking up soccer rights as part of a major push into sports in Europe" (DIGITAL TV EUROPE, 10/24). Fox Sports "recently launched in the Netherlands and Italy and is also on air in Turkey and Cyprus" (HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, 10/24).
