Liga MX Clubs UANL Tigres, Pachuca Contributing To Storm Relief Efforts

Liga MX side UANL Tigres is "requesting that its fans and followers, as well as the community in general, unite in an effort to collect provisions in support of the 1.2 million Mexicans in 309 communities that have lost something or everything due to recent torrential rains and flooding," according to Diego Armando Medina of LA AFICION. The date for the Tigres-organized event is Saturday from 4-8pm at the team's University Stadium, which will "become an enormous collection center for contributions of the following items: cooking oil, sugar, juices, salt, cereal, instant coffee and flour." In exchange for donations, "participants will receive tickets for a raffle that will be held the following Tuesday, when 500 Tigres jerseys signed by the players will be given away, with the winning numbers being announced via the Tigres' social networks" (LA AFICION, 10/1).

PACHUCA TO MAKE DONATIONS: LA AFICION reported Liga MX side Pachuca will donate what it "makes on ticket sales for its next game to those affected by Hurricane Ingrid." At the request of Pachuca's players, which will cover the costs, admission to their game on Saturday against Liga MX rival Veracruz will be free "for fans who have regularly attended the team's game this season." The club is requesting that "to enter the stadium, fans must present two tickets from games played earlier this season." All money raised "will be donated directly to those affected by Hurricane Ingrid" (LA AFICION, 10/1).
