Second Bundesliga club 1860 Munich Managing Dir ROBERT SCHÄFER "resigned from his position on Friday afternoon." While the club confirmed Schäfer's resignation via press release, club President GERHARD MAYRHOFER said, "Robert has been put on leave with immediate effect and his contract will be terminated. How can you not comply with the wish, if a managing director says he doesn't want to be managing director anymore" (ABENDZEITUNG MÜNCHEN, 9/27). ... JAMES MURDOCH, the son of media mogul RUPERT MURDOCH, "has been promoted to the position of chairman at German pay-TV operator Sky Deutschland." Rupert Murdoch's media company News Corp. "holds a majority stake of about 55% in Sky Deutschland" (DWDL, 9/27). ... DANNY JORDAAN was elected as the South African FA president at the organization's elective congress at Helderfontein Estate in Midrand on Saturday. Jordaan beat MANDLA "SHOES" MAZIBUKO for the top spot and will replace outgoing President KIRSTEN NEMATANDANI (SOWETAN LIVE, 9/28). ... Fenway Sports Management announced that FRANK HUCKABONE has "been promoted" to exec VP & chief revenue officer (ISPORTCONNECT, 9/27). ... Australia Football League club St. Kilda is looking for a CEO "after parting ways" with MICHAEL NETTLEFOLD. The former St. Kilda and Fitzroy player took over as CEO in '09 "following the resignation" of ARCHIE FRASER. Nettlefold: "The time was right. I have been speaking with the board about it for a while" (THE AGE, 9/27). ... Long-serving Team Manager RANJIB BISWAL was appointed chairman of the Indian Premier League in the Board of Control for Cricket in India's annual general meeting in Chennai. Biswal will replace RAJIV SHUKLA, "who resigned at the end of his tenure" (PTI, 9/29).
