Barcelona President Sandro Rosell Says Club Members Will Decide Future Of Camp Nou

FC Barcelona President Sandro Rosell on Tuesday explained that from "an unselfish point of view," it would be favorable to build a new stadium and not remodel Camp Nou, but reiterated that "the final decision will be voted on by club members," according to AS. Rosell ruled out "building a new stadium on Camp Nou's current grounds due to 'technical difficulties.'" Rosell said that the club has "three decisions: keep the same stadium, remodel it or build a new stadium on other grounds." Rosell: "Being selfish, I would prefer we do nothing. Because whatever we do, there will be days when we can't come to Camp Nou. Also, it will cost us money. If I am a little selfish, I would renovate the stadium. But if I am not selfish, I would want a whole new stadium." Rosell said that a new stadium could generate €20M-€30M ($26.7M-$40M) annually thanks to "new revenue like VIP seats that would allow Barcelona to get more from its club facilities." The team is waiting to receive a "concrete proposal from engineering firms in relation to the project," and because of this, no date for the vote has been established (AS, 9/17).
