Football Notes: Real Sociedad Receives 1,700 Tickets For Champions League Match

La Liga club Real Sociedad "has received 1,700 tickets to distribute to fans for the upcoming Champions League match" against ManU at Old Trafford. The club "originally made only 1,200 tickets available to fans that have held season tickets since 2007 but after quickly selling them all, the Basque club elected to make another 500 tickets available which had been originally reserved for a travel agency" (INSIDE SPANISH FOOTBALL, 9/10). ... The management of Bulgaria's Levski Sofia has "taken bizarre measures to reduce the club's monthly budget." Bosses "have decided to limit the money that is given to players for rent of their homes" (INSIDE WORLD FOOTBALL, 9/10). ... Istanbul's failure to land the 2020 Olympics "could have a direct knock-on effect in terms of Turkey bidding for a slice of Euro 2020." UEFA President Michel Platini "has long insisted that if the Turks staged the Games they would be ruled out of the selection process for the one-off pan-European Euros the same summer" (INSIDE WORLD FOOTBALL, 9/10).
