Tickets for the 35th edition of the Trofeo Santiago Bernabéu preseason match, which will take place on Aug. 22 between Real Madrid and Qatari club Al Sadd, went on sale Monday and "nearly sold out by the end of the afternoon." Real Madrid will face one of its former captains, Raúl González, which "has unleashed madness in the sale of tickets," with the demand temporarily shutting down the team's website on Monday. González, who played for Real Madrid for 16 seasons, said "it will be very exciting" (MARCA, 8/6). ... Birmingham, England’s Edgbaston Stadium "has been rewarded for its success" in staging the Int'l Cricket Council Champions Trophy competition in June by being granted an additional Twenty 20 int'l.
