Newly promoted Almeria has named Francisco Rodriguez its new coach for its return to Spain's first division.

Rodriguez has spent the last two seasons coaching Almeria's second team in Spain's third division.

At 34, Rodriguez is the topflight's youngest coach.

He will replace Javi Garcia after the former manager and club failed to agree on a contract extension despite earning promotion.

Almeria was promoted with Elche and Villarreal, while Mallorca, Real Zaragoza, and Deportivo La Coruna were relegated.

McLaren F1 team has recruited Sauber Chief Designer MATT MORRIS to be its engineering director, filling the gap left by the loss of former Technical Dir PADDY LOWE to Mercedes. Morris "will join once he has completed his exit from his contract" at Sauber. Argentine First Division side Colón de Santa Fe President GERMÁN LERCHE confirmed that RUBÉN FORESTELLO will take over as head coach on Monday, replacing PABLO MORANT (OLE, 6/29).
