ANZ Stadium To Break Attendance Record With British & Irish Lions Deciding Game

ANZ Stadium officials are understood to have "installed extra seating that will push the capacity for Saturday's series deciding match between Australia and the British and Irish Lions to 84,000," according to Ray Gatt of THE AUSTRALIAN. And, at this stage, they are quietly confident the previous (reconfigured) stadium record of 83,418 for the 2004 Bledisloe Cup game between the Wallabies and All Blacks "will be broken." There "has been unprecedented demand for tickets as the stadium gears up for a massive July in which it will also host the State of Origin series decider" between New South Wales and Queensland and the All Stars vs. ManU game. By the time the referee blows full-time in the ManU match, stadium officials said that almost 337,000 "will have attended the three blockbusters" (THE AUSTRALIAN, 7/1).
