Olympic Notes: IOC Opens Bidding Process For Broadcast Rights In Asia

The IOC "has opened the bidding process for broadcast rights in Asia for the 2014 and 2016 Olympics." The IOC "will consider bids for the rights in 24 countries." The deal will cover the 2014 Sochi Winter Games and 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games, as well as next year's Summer Youth Olympics in Nanjing, China (AP, 6/11). ... Japanese astronaut Koichi Wakata "will relay an Olympic torch to the International Space Station in November as part of the torch relay for the 2014 Sochi Olympics" (KYODO, 6/12).
