Málaga, Spain Government To Work With La Liga Side Regarding Debt From Stadium Fees

Málaga, Spain Mayor Francisco de la Torre said Monday that La Liga side Málaga owes "more than €1.6M" ($2.1M) to the three owners of La Rosaleda Stadium -- the town council, the administrative body and the Junta of Andalusia -- for use of the stadium, according to the EFE. De la Torre said the stadium co-owners want Málaga "to provide 'compensation' without having to pay." De la Torre: "The co-owners have an agreement since '04, and it has been respected by each owner." De la Torre referenced the €180,000 ($238,212) annual fee for the use of La Rosaleda. De la Torre said that he "hopes to have a meeting with those responsible for the club." Since two weeks ago, a meeting has been planned for Tuesday to "look for ways for Málaga to not have to make a make a payment." De la Torre said, "This has been our interest" (EFE, 6/10).
