MSV Duisburg Prepares For Bankruptcy; DFB Denies Kickers Offenbach License

Second Bundesliga side MSV Duisburg, which was denied the license for the '13-14 season by the German Football League (DFL), "is planning for bankruptcy," according to Joachim Droll of BILD. The players reportedly "did not receive their salaries for May." A player's wife, who called the front office to ask about the missing paycheck, was told, "The salaries will not be paid anymore. We are preparing for bankruptcy..." Besides the players, about 50 employees "are faced with unemployment on July 1" (BILD, 6/3).

KICKERS OFFENBACH: The DPA reported the German Football Federation (DFB) "has denied in-debt 3rd club Kickers Offenbach the license" for the '13-14 season. The club, which "underwent an extensive restructuring program," has debt of €9.1M ($11.9M) (FRANKFURTER ALLGEMEINE ZEITUNG, 6/3).
