MDR, NDR Scores With Broadcast Of 2nd Bundesliga Relegation Playoff Game

German public broadcasters MDR and NDR, both part of ARD's portfolio of channels, "have recorded outstanding ratings for their broadcast of the second leg of the 2nd Bundesliga relegation playoff between Dresden and Osnabrück," according to Alexander Krei of DWDL. An average of 1.4 million viewers tuned in to watch the first half of the game on MDR. The number translated into a 4.9% market share. NDR attracted 1.19 million viewers for its broadcast of the first half. During the second half of the game, which Dresden won 2-0, both channels "increased their numbers." A total of 1.73 million viewers watched the second half of the matchup on NDR. The channel's market share reached 6.3%. MDR attracted 1.62 million viewers to its broadcast of the second half. In the target demographic 14-49, MDR reached a 5.5% share during the second half, and NDR obtained a strong 5.6% market share at 9:28pm German time (DWDL, 5/29).
