Indian Sports Minister Jitendra Singh Says India Will Return To Olympic Fold Soon

Indian Sports Minister Jitendra Singh said in a press conference on Thursday that the Indian government has no intentions "to interfere with the Indian Olympic Association proceedings," according to the TIMES OF INDIA. India has pried open the door that will allow it to re-enter the Olympic movement "from which it was banished last December" (TIMES OF INDIA, 5/16). The HINDUSTAN TIMES wrote the sports minister said that the government will ensure free and fair elections to the IOA, "and it has no intention to interfere in the internal matter of the National Sports Federation." Singh: "Transparency and accountability is very important" (HINDUSTAN TIMES, 516).
