Event Notes: European Tour Makes Long-Awaited Return To Denmark In 2014

The European Tour will visit Denmark for the first time in more than a decade next year when the inaugural Made in Denmark is held at Himmerland Golf & Spa Resort Aug. 14-17. The tournament will be played at the North Jutland venue through '16, and will carry a prize fund of €1.5M ($1.95M), with €270,000 ($350,000) going to the winner (European Tour). ... Royal Liverpool Golf Club has been named host for the 2019 Walker Cup match. The 47th biennial match between the amateurs of Great Britain and Ireland and the U.S. will be played at Royal Liverpool, as the club celebrates the 150th anniversary of its foundation (PGA). ... The Tour de Singkarak returns to West Sumatra for the fifth time this year "with an increase in prize money that is expected to attract 220 riders from 18 countries." The tour, slated for June 2-9, is offering a total of Rp1.2B ($123,000) in prize money, Rp200M ($20,600) "more than was on offer last year" (JAKARTA GLOBE, 5/14). ... The Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival announced its association with int'l endurance rides. Festival Director & Head of Int'l Federation of Arabian Horse Racing Authorities Ladies Racing Lara Sawaya said that "two rides will be held under the banner of the Festival" starting with a 160km ride later this month (GULF NEWS, 5/13).
