Bundesliga Obtains Respectable Ratings On Sky; Boxing Coverage Convincing On ARD

German pay-TV channel Sky "received respectable ratings with its broadcasts of Saturday's Bundesliga games," according to Alexander Krei of DWDL. A total of 1.15 million viewers tuned in on Saturday afternoon to watch one of the five individual games or Sky's simulcast. In the target demographic 14-49, Sky's broadcast obtained a 10.3% market share, which "was the lowest share since mid-February." Saturday's top game between Dusseldorf and Bremen attracted 860,000 viewers and had a 4.7% market share. On Sunday, Sky's coverage of the matchup bewteen Mainz and Frankfurt was watched by 610,000 viewers, which equaled a 3.1% share in the target demographic. The second Sunday game between Schalke and Hamburg SV attracted 830,000 viewers and had a 3.8% share in the target demographic (DWDL, 4/29).

BOXING BOUT: German public broadcaster ARD "recorded convincing ratings for its broadcast of the boxing fight between Jürgen Brähmer and Tony Averland on Saturday night." An average of 2.43 million viewers tuned in to watch the bout. ARD obtained a 18.2% market share. Prior to the main fight, 2.86 million viewers watched Jack Culcay's loss to Guido Nicolas Pitto. In addition, the ARD Bundeliga-Sportschau, which aired on Saturday evening, attracted 5.39 million viewers. The Sportschau's market share was 24% (DWDL, 4/29).
