Bayern Munich President Uli Hoeneß Fears Bundesliga Becomes Duopoly

Bayern Munich President Uli Hoeneß "fears the Bundesliga has become too easy for his club, and hopes their rivals can catch up quickly," according to ESPN. The German champions-elect "have sealed their 23rd title with six games to spare and are now just one win away from matching the record number of points for a season, set by Borussia Dortmund last year." Those two clubs "seem set to dominate German football for years to come," but Hoeneß hopes a duopoly such as the one in Spain with Barcelona and Real Madrid "does not become reality in the Bundesliga." He said, "There has been a huge dip in the competitiveness of the league, and we can't be happy with that. We've got to analyze why that is the case" (ESPN, 4/15).
