The Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games has appointed DAVID LEATHER as COO, replacing RALPH ORD. Leather was a key figure in the successful delivery of the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester, England leading the Manchester team through much of the planning phase. Leather joins the organizing committee from Ernst & Young where he has been a partner since '05. Ernst & Young is a member of Glasgow 2014's sponsor family (Glasgow 2014). ... League Two side Torquay United announced that THEA BRISTOW will take over as chair of the relegation-threatened club. She succeeds SIMON BAKER, who will become vice-chair (BBC, 10/9). ... The New Zealand All Blacks rugby team coach STEVE HANSEN had his contract extended until after the 2015 World Cup (EUROSPORT, 4/10). ... Second Bundesliga club FC Cologne has appointed FRANK SAHLER as its head of marketing & sales. The 41-year-old home improvement store Hornbach district head of marketing communications will succeed JOACHIM LANGE on June 1 (HORIZONT, 4/10). ... La Liga Valencia will choose its new president at a shareholders' meeting on June 4. The interim president until that date will be VICENTE ANDREU, who has been an exec with the club for 27 years (EL MUNDO, 4/10). ... Former Spain and Real Madrid defender MICHEL SALGADO was "unveiled as the director of football" at Dubai Sports City's new football academy. Salgado will oversee programs for children age 6 to 16 "amid state-of-the-art facilities" (GULFNEWS, 4/10).
