Retired IAS officer PRABHAT C CHATURVEDI has replaced the jailed AJAY SINGH CHAUTALA as the Table Tennis Federation of India president after the elections held at the TTFI's Annual General Meeting (PTI, 3/19). ... Swiss Super League FC Basel striker ALEX FREI, who announced in November that he will retire after the season, "will become the executive sports director of league opponent FC Luzern on April 15" (NEUE ZÜRCHER ZEITUNG, 3/19). ... Badminton Asia Confederation "made a surprise move" to appoint DATUK SERI NADZMI MOHD SALLEH to be its acting president. If Nadzmi, the Badminton Association of Malaysia president, accepts the new role, he may withdraw from his bid for the president’s post during the Badminton World Federation's election in May (STAR ONLINE, 3/19). ... Swimming Australia head coach LEIGH NUGENT was axed following Australia's "disastrous campaign at the London Olympics." The news comes "amid a major reshuffle" at the top of Swimming Australia, with former British Swimming boss MICHAEL SCOTT expected to be announced in a newly created role as high performance director next week. Hockey Australia's MARK ANDERSON "is tipped" to replace former Swimming Australia CEO KEVIN NEILL (DAILY TELEGRAPH, 3/20).
