Georgia NOC Chair Says Country Willing To Participate In 2014 Winter Olympics

Georgian National Olympic Committee Chair Leri Khabelov on Saturday "reiterated the country's willingness to participate in the 2014 Winter Olympic Games to be held in Sochi," according to XINHUA. The new government of Georgia "is doing everything possible" to ensure that Georgia takes part in the 2014 Winter Games and Georgia's move has got int'l support (XINHUA, 3/16).

FASHION STATEMENT: Istanbul Fashion Week is helping to set the stage for the IOC Evaluation Commission’s visit to the city. The IOC is due to visit Istanbul on Sunday (Istanbul 2020).

SQUASH BID: The AP reported the head of squash's governing body does not consider wrestling a "big threat" as eight sports fight for a single place on the program of the 2020 Olympics. World Squash President N. Ramachandran said on Friday that "he is confident his sport can win its bid for inclusion" despite the high-profile support for wrestling (AP, 3/17).
