Rio De Janeiro State Government Launches Bidding Process For Maracanã Stadium

The Maracanã in Rio de Janeiro will play host to the 2014 World Cup final.
STADIUM UPDATE: PORTAL 2014 reported the Mané Garrincha stadium in Brasilia, Brazil is now 89% finished. The R$1.2B World Cup arena will seat 71,000 and is scheduled to open on April 21 (PORTAL 2014, 2/22).
INFRASTRUCTURE NEWS: PORTAL 2014 also reported World Cup host city Curitiba is looking to add a third landing strip to its airport. The city is in discussion with a number of companies to see how much the constructions would cost. The best proposal so far has been for a price of R$1.5M ($760,000) (PORTAL 2014, 2/23).
