Super Bowl Scores Top Ratings For German TV Channel Sat.1; Bundesliga Strong On Sky

BUNDESLIGA RATINGS: DWDL's Alexander Krei reported German pay-TV channel Sky "scored strong ratings with its Sunday Bundesliga broadcast." An average of 1.04 million viewers tuned in to watch the match between Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund. In the target demographic, Dortmund's 3-2 victory obtained a 5.7% market share. Prior to the Leverkusen-Dortmund game, Sky aired the match-up between FC Nuremberg and Borussia Mönchengladbach. The game attracted 660,000 viewers and received a 3.9% share. Additionally, Sky's simulcast of Saturday's Bundesliga games attracted 1.33 million viewers (DWDL, 2/4).
EUROSPORT EUPHORIA: DWDL's Krei also reported pan-European sports channel Eurosport has had a successful start into '13. Eurosport said that "it was the channel's most-successful January since '10." The channel profited from its live broadcasts of the Australian Open, Dakar Rally and several winter sports events. In comparison to last year, Eurosport "was able to increase its ratings Europe-wide by 5.3%." In comparison to '11, the increase was almost 20% (DWDL, 2/4).
