Omega Looks To Continue Sponsorship Of Dubai Golf Tournaments

Swiss watchmaker Omega VP & Int'l Sales Dir Raynald Aeschlimann "has expressed confidence" in extending the brand's five-year title sponsorship of the Dubai Desert Classic and Ladies Masters golf tournament when it expires next year, according to Ashley Hammond of GULF NEWS. Aeschlimann said that the "deal's continuity was important" for Omega, which is owned by The Swatch Group. Omega is "heavily associated with swimming and sailing," and is the official timekeeper for the Olympic Games and the PGA Tour. With golf set for re-inclusion into the Olympics in '16 after a 112-year hiatus, Aeschlimann suggested that "the firm's sponsorship could continue." Aeschlimann said of the sponsorship deal: "We are talking together [with the relevant parties] and we are looking forward" (GULF NEWS, 2/4).
