Sat.1 Lands Big Ratings For Middleweight Title Fight Between Sturm And Soliman

German private TV channel Sat.1 "has received satisfying ratings with its broadcast of the middleweight title fight between Felix Sturm and Sam Soliman," according to Manuel Nunez Sanchez of QUOTEN METER. A total of 2.58 million viewers tuned in on Friday at 11:35pm German time to watch the bout. The number translated into a market share of 16.9%. In the target demographic 14-49, Soliman's victory attracted 870,000 viewers or a strong 13% share. Sturm's last fight in September obtained a 24% and 20.9% share, respectively, while 4.05 million sports fans tuned in (QUOTEN METER, 2/2).

A NEW RECORD: A report by Germany-based research firm IFM revealed that the World Touring Car Championship has hit its ambitious mark of breaking its record TV audience and exceeding 500 million viewers worldwide. In '12, 144 TV channels aired at least one of the WTCC events, and this amounted to 1,081 broadcasting hours. A total of 512 million viewers watched WTCC on TV, which represented a 12% increase compared to '11 figures (IFM).
