Tasmanian Government Invests $15.8M Into Blundstone Arena Renovations

The Tasmanian government will invest A$15M ($15.8M) into the redevelopment of Blundstone Arena in Bellerive, Australia. The announcement, made Wednesday by Premier of Tasmania Lara Giddings, and Cricket Tasmania Chair and Cricket Australia Dir Tony Harrison, matches the A$15M investment from the Commonwealth government announced by PM Julia Gillard last year. Once completed, Blundstone Arena’s capacity will be increased to almost 20,000, which will help Tasmania’s bid for Int'l Cricket Council Cricket World Cup matches in '15. Tasmanian cricket legend Ricky Ponting said, "Blundstone Arena is going to become one of the world’s most modern and engaging venues" (Cricket Australia).
