BCCI Changes Schedule For Upcoming Tour By Australia Because Of Incompleted Stadium
The Board of Control for Cricket in India has "changed the schedule for the upcoming tour by Australia," moving the third Test from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh to Hyderabad, the capital of Andhra Pradesh, according to Will Davies of the WALL STREET JOURNAL's India Real Time blog. The Australian cricket board posted a statement from the BCCI that said that Kanpur’s Green Park stadium "wouldn’t be completed in time" for the March 14-18 Test. Cricket Australia said it had previously expressed concern about Kanpur as a venue because the facilities “were not in line” with other Indian grounds. The first Test of the Border-Gavaskar series will take place Feb. 22 in Delhi, followed by a match beginning March 2 in Mohali, then Hyderabad, and finally in Chennai, from March 22-26 (WSJ, 12/28).
