Rabobank To Financially Support Former Pro Cycling Team In '13
The Dutch pro cycling team formerly know as Rabobank "will receive financial support in its search for a new backer from its former title sponsor," according to the SID. Dutch bank Rabobank, which wanted to leave cycling at the end of the year due to the sport's doping issues, "will support the team for another year." However, name and color of the Dutch bank will not be featured on the team's jerseys, and the team will compete as Blanco Pro Cycling Team in '13. Rabobank spokesperson Hendrik Jan Eijpe said, "We will fulfill our financial responsibility toward the team in 2013. There have been talks with various companies about the takeover of the team's sponsorship, however, those didn't lead to an agreement" (SID, 12/13).
