Winter Sports Boost TV Ratings For German Broadcasters

German public broadcaster ZDF "had a very successful Sunday with its winter sports broadcasts," according to Alexander Krei of DWDL. ZDF's coverage of the women's biathlon relay from Hochfilzen, Austria attracted an average of 4.43 million viewers. The number equaled a market share of 22.7%. In the target demographic 14-49, the victory of the Norwegian team in the women's relay event had a 12.6% share. The men's relay race, which took place on Sunday morning ahead of the women's event, was watched by 3.49 million viewers or a 23.3% share. In addition, other winter sports also obtained good ratings. ZDF's broadcast of the men's giant slalom race from Val d'Isere, France, which aired at noon local time, attracted 3.14 million viewers. A total of 3.48 million viewers tuned in to watch the ski jumping competition from Sochi, Russia.
