South Korea's Park Jongwoo Suspended For Two Games By FIFA's Disciplinary Committee

The FIFA Disciplinary Committee decided on Nov. 20 to suspend South Korea player PARK JONGWOO for two matches  for displaying unsportsmanlike behavior after the London Olympics match played between South Korea and Japan on Aug. 10. Furthermore, the player has been ordered to pay a fine of CHF 3,500 ($3,800). The committee took into account that the behavior of the player, even though it appears not to have been premeditated or intentional, contradicts the principal idea and goal of sportsmanship and fair play, and therefore, cannot be tolerated. The committee considered it appropriate to also impose a warning on the Korea Football Association and reminded it of its obligation to properly instruct its players on all the pertinent rules and applicable regulations before the start of any competition, in order to avoid such incident in the future (FIFA).
