  • Corinthians Agrees To Jersey Sponsorship Deal With Caixa Econômica Federal

    Brasileiro club Corinthians has signed a title sponsorship deal with Brazilian bank Caixa Econômica Federal, according to MAQUINA DO ESPORTE. Corinthians had been without a main jersey sponsor since April when its deal with pharmaceutical company Hypermarcas expired. Until now the club had agreed to a number of temporary jersey sponsorship deals for its games but no long-term contract. The agreement with Caixa Econômica Federal will run through '14. The bank will be Corinthians' only jersey sponsor when it plays in the FIFA Club World Cup in Japan later this year, as football's governing body only allows participating clubs one jersey sponsor for the tournament. For the rest of the contract, Caixa Econômica Federal will not have exclusivity on the jersey of the São Paulo club. The official announcement of the deal will come on Tuesday. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed (MAQUINA DO ESPORTE, 11/19).

  • Turkish Airlines Will Opt Out Of Barcelona Sponsorship After Club Agrees To Deal With Qatar Airways

    As a result of Barcelona's deal with Qatar Airways, current Barça sponsor Turkish Airlines will leave the club, according to Javier Matallanas of AS. The official announcement of Qatar Airways' presence on the Catalan club's jersey next season "will provoke the exit" of the Turkish airline company, which had an exit clause in case the club partnered with another airline. Turkish Airlines' deal with Barcelona was supposed to go through '16 at a rate of €3M ($3.8M) annually (AS, 11/18).

  • NH Hoteles Agrees To Three-Year Extension Of Davis Cup Sponsorship

    NH Hoteles has extended its sponsorship of the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas through '15. The agreement was signed in Prague, Czech Republic on Saturday during the 2012 Davis Cup Final at the recently opened NH Prague hotel. NH Hoteles joined the Davis Cup family as an int'l sponsor in '04 (ITF). MAQUINA DO ESPORTE reported that NH Hoteles Chair Mariano Claver was happy with the extension. Claver said, "The int'l profile of this unique competition makes NH Hoteles’ participation as a global sponsor of Davis Cup for almost nine years a vital tool for supporting the company’s recent expansion, and communicating the NH Hoteles’ brand through a single message to millions of spectators in more than 170 countries" (MAQUINA DO ESPORTE, 11/19).

  • Manchester United Agrees To Four-Year Sponsorship With Turkish Bank Denizbank

    ManU revealed a four-year sponsorship with Turkish bank Denizbank. The new agreement, the first of its kind to be forged by the club and a Turkish bank, will give Denizbank the exclusive rights to offer the official Manchester United credit card to the club’s 9.5 million followers in Turkey. The unique ManU and Denizbank branded credit card will offer cardholders a number of incentives and benefits, including discounts at the club’s Red Café and Museum & Tour (ManU).

  • Ottobock Signs Brazilian Paralympic Athlete To Be Global Brand Ambassador

    Prosthetics manufacturer Ottobock has signed Brazilian Paralympic swimmer Daniel Dias to be its global brand ambassador, according to MAQUINA DO ESPORTE. The German company "plans to open its first factory in Brazil in '13." At the London Games, Dias won the Gold Medal in all six Paralympic events he participated in. The "most-curious element is that Dias does not use prosthetics to compete." However Dias said that he uses them everyday. Dias: "But they help in daily activities, in the gym, during pilates. The evolution of prosthetics has made my life more comfortable." Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. It is estimated that Ottobock "controls 50% of the global market" in the prosthetics segment (MAQUINA DO ESPORTE, 11/19).

  • UMW Group To Sponsor Professional Golf Malaysia For $326,500

    Malaysian manufacturing conglomerate UMW Group has "pledged a total of RM 1M ($326,500) to Professional Golf Malaysia," according to the BORNEO POST. The "sponsorship started last year with a contribution of RM 250,000 ($81,600) and this year, the group is contributing another RM 250,000 toward the 'PGM-UMW Glenmarie Classic,'" which will be held from Monday until Thursday at the Glenmarie Golf & County Club. The balance of the cash contribution "will be presented next year." The sponsorship comes as part of the UMW Group's branding program, as well as to "support and promote the development of professional golf in Malaysia." UMW "has also agreed to provide RM 20,000 ($6,550) sponsorship to Mohd Hafiy Afiq Suhaili -- a student at the PGM Peak Performance Academy" (BORNEO POST, 11/8).

    English Rugby Union's Bath Rugby announced that it has renewed its contract with online wealth management platform Novia. The sides first partnered in June '11, and Novia's logo has appeared on the playing shirts, training wear and throughout the recreation ground, with the East Stand being renamed the "Novia Stand," all of which will remain in the new deal (Bath Rugby). ... Australian swimmer Alicia Coutts has signed a two-year deal with swimwear company Speedo which will take her until the 2014 Commonwealth Games (Swimming Australia). ... German Hockey League (DEL) Krefeld Pinguine "signed a sponsorship deal with brewery König Pilsener." The brewery "plans to host meet and greet events for fans as well as raffle off game-worn jerseys." Financial details of the deal "were not disclosed" (RP ONLINE, 11/16).
