Nissan "appointed DARREN COX as its director for global motorsports." Cox will start his position on Nov. 1. In addition, Nissan "appointed JERRY HARDCASTLE with immediate effect as its technical director for its worldwide motorsports programs." Both, Cox and Hardcastle, will report to Nissan Motorsports Int'l President SHOICHI MIYATANI and Nissan VP/Global Marketing ROEL DE-VRIES (MOTORSPORT MAGAZIN, 10/23).

MANAGERS: The Senegal Football Federation (FSF) has fired Coach JOSEPH KOTO after the team's failure to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations. The decision follows a Tuesday board meeting to "discuss the rioting that caused the abandonment of their final round," second leg qualifier against the Ivory Coast this month (REUTERS, 10/24). ... Former Belgium coach FRANK VERCAUTEREN is taking charge at Portuguese club Sporting Lisbon. The 55-year-old Belgian will start work on Tuesday with a contract through the end of the season (AP, 10/24). ... League Championship club Ipswich Town is looking for a new manager "after confirming PAUL JEWELL has left the club by mutual consent." Ipswich Owner MARCUS EVANS and Jewell agreed on a deal for the 48-year-old to leave the club. CHRIS HUTCHINGS will take over as interim manager (London GUARDIAN, 10/24). ... National Rugby League club Wests Tigers has revealed MICK POTTER as its new coach on a two-year deal. Potter replaces TIM SHEENS (AAP, 10/24). ... Englishman RICHARD PYBUS has quit as coach of Bangladesh's cricket team "over contract differences just five months into the job." The Bangladesh Cricket Board has appointed SHANE JURGENSEN as the interim coach (AFP, 10/24).
