Kenworth De La Montaña Acquires Majority Share Of Colombian Club Once Caldas

Truck manufacturer Kenworth subsidiary Kenworth de la Montaña has "reached a deal" to become the primary shareholder of Colombian club Once Caldas, according to EL COLOMBIANO. The deal will give the company 17 million of the 46 million shares that the club has on the market, making it the majority shareholder (EL COLOMBIANO, 10/17). In Bogotá, LA REPUBLICA reported that "the first task" of the new majority owners will be to reduce the more than $1.1M debt the club has collected (LA REPUBLICA, 10/18). In Manizales, Osvaldo Hernández wrote that Kenworth de la Montaña "arrived at the most opportune of times," as the club did not have one peso to operate. The players were getting kicked out of their apartments "as they could not pay their rent." The team "had to postpone their trips as they did not have transportation" (LA PATRIA, 10/18).
