Atlético Paranaense To Contract North American Company To Run New Stadium
Brazilian club Atlético Paranaense "will reveal in the coming weeks" the name of the North American agency contracted to help manage the new Arena da Baixada, according to Fernando Murad of MEIO&MENSAGEM.com.br. The stadium in Curitiba, Brazil is scheduled to host 2014 World Cup matches. One of the objectives of the negotiation is to find ways to "generate revenue through entertainment events" held in the stadium. One of the companies under consideration is AEG, which in Brazil is already "responsible for the Arena Pernambuco and the new Palmeiras stadium" (MEIO&MENSAGEM.com.br, 10/16).
NEW ROOF: MAQUINADOESPORTE.com.br reported that Brazilian roofing company Sulmeta "will be responsible" for the fabrication of the roof on the new Beira-Rio stadium. The arena, which belongs to Brasileiro club Internacional, is being redeveloped to host 2014 World Cup matches (MAQUINADOESPORTE.com.br, 10/16).
