Spanish Broadcasters Not Willing To Pay $3.9M For Rights To WC Qualifying Match

As things currently stand, the World Cup qualifying match between Spain and Belarus "will not be seen" on TV in Spain, according to MUNDO DEPORTIVO. No broadcaster has been willing to "disburse the amount of money demanded" for the rights. With the game set for Friday, none of the broadcasters have been willing to pay the €3M ($3.9M) demanded by rights holders Sportfive. If the marketing agency wants to sell the rights to the game, "it will have to lower its asking price to €1.5M ($1.9M). The Spanish national team is currently going through "the best stretch in its history," having won the last two Euro Championships and the 2010 World Cup (MUNDO DEPORTIVO, 10/9).
