ARD's Bundesliga Recap Show Sets New Viewer Record, More Than 5 Million Tuned In

Week 7 of the Bundesliga "provided German public broadcaster ARD with a new viewer record for its game day recap show Sportschau," according to David Grzeschik of QUOTENMETER.de. The show, which started at 6:30pm CEST, "attracted 5.01 million viewers." It is the first time this year that the show "was viewed by more than 5 million viewers." This number translates into an overall market share of 22.6%. In addition, ARD's recap of Germany's 3rd League attracted 2.82 million viewers or a 17.2% share at 6pm (QUOTENMETER.de, 10/7). QUOTENMETER's German free-to-air TV channel kabel eins obtained "outstanding ratings" for its broadcast of the Europa League match between Borussia Mönchengladbach and Fenerbahce Istanbul on Thursday. During the game's first half, "a total of 2.7 million viewers or a 8.7% market share tuned in to watch Fenerbahce's 4-2 victory." In the second half, kabel eins attracted "an even larger crowd." A total of 2.87 million or a 12.5% share watched the second half, which started at 10:05pm CEST (QUOTENMETER.de, 10/5).
