Sky And ARD Obtain High Ratings For Their Coverage Of Bundesliga's Mid-Week Games

German pay-TV channel Sky and public broadcaster ARD "obtained strong ratings with their Bundesliga coverages on Wednesday," according to Uwe Mantel of DWDL.de. However, the second game day of the Bundesliga's "English Week," meaning mid-week fixtures, attracted fewer viewers than Tuesday's coverage. Sky's Wednesday broadcast of all six individual match-ups and its simulcast "was watched by an average of 950,000 viewers, which is about 250,000 fewer than Tuesday's coverage." Those numbers translate into "an overall market share of 3.2% and 4.5% in the marketing relevant target age group 14-49." Public broadcaster ARD also attracted fewer viewers to its recap show "Sportschau" on Wednesday. An average of 2.8 million viewers tuned in to Wednesday's show, which is down from 3.26 million on Tuesday. Overall, ARD had a market share of 15.4% and 10.9% in the marketing relevant target age group (DWDL.de, 9/27).
