League Notes: NBA Fans In China Will Be Celebrated Next Month

NBA China will host its first NBA Fan Appreciation Day on Oct. 13 at the Oriental Sports Center in Shanghai. The event will feature a variety of basketball and entertainment elements, including open team practices, which will allow fans to watch NBA champion Miami Heat and the L.A. Clippers prepare for the China Games and the '12-13 season. NBA "legends, dance teams, mascots and dunkers will also participate at the event" (CHINA DAILY, 9/26). ... Gujarat Cricket Association former VP Narhari Amin informed Board of Control for Cricket in India officials about the "alleged misdeeds of the current incumbents of GCA." He requested to withhold this year's annual subsidy to its affiliated units until their audited accounts and reports are passed by the respective associations' exec committee and general body. GCA Secretary Rajesh Patel "expressed unawareness on the latest development" and refused to comment on it (TNN, 9/27). ... Board of Control for Cricket in India President N. Srinivasan "refused to talk about the issue of Indian Premier League franchise Deccan Chargers as it was sub-judice," but said that the board can advertise for a new team to be added to the IPL. Srinivasan said, "I’m informed that the court may issue an order soon, but as far as the board is concerned, it is at liberty to advertise for another franchise" (PTI, 9/27).
