DEL Club Hannover Scorpions Is In Talks With Russian Businessman About A Possible Investment

German Hockey League (DEL) club Hannover Scorpions "is in talks with Russian businessman Sergey Egorov about a possible stake in the club," according to the DPA. Egorov, who owns construction and oil company Arcticmorgeo, "allegedly arrived in Hannover Monday for a second round of talks." Scorpions Owner Günter Papenburg "did not comment on Ergorov's arrival." He only said that "a Russian delegation is currently here to visit." Ergorov is described as "hockey crazy" and regularly hosts an int'l hockey tournament for historic teams in St. Petersburg, the "Arctic Cup." Ergorov reportedly is "not only interested in a stake in the club but also the club's home, the TUI Arena." A possible investment of Ergorov in the Scorpions "could lead to the team joining the Russian Kontinental Hockey League in the long term" (DPA, 9/25).
